Care4Cary developed out of widespread local concerns about the nature of some developments that have been proposed for the Castle Cary area. These concerns were stimulated by proposals, put together by Bronzeoak Thermal Ltd, to build a large power station just outside the town. In March 2009 over 100 residents unanimously voted to set up Care4Cary to protect local interests. The Aims of the Group are to help protect the environment of the Castle Cary area from damaging developments. The group understands the need for, and supports, developments that benefit the area without disproportionately damaging its special character. The Care4Cary Coordinating Committee consists of:
